Matilda is coming!

8th March 2019

Edward Worlledge Ormiston Academy is an official RSC Matilda Champion school! This means that as a Matilda Champion School, we will work with the RSC and Norwich Theatre Royal on a programme of work inspired by Matilda The Musical.

The academy has made a two-year commitment and will be creating curriculum resources that uses Matilda The Musical as inspiration for creative writing, dance and music across the school. We will also demonstrate the ability to recruit, work with and share our skills and knowledge with five other schools during our two-year project period.

Principal, Mr. Thompson, launched our summer production of Matilda to KS2 today during assembly. Children interested in auditioning for the main parts of Matilda, Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood, Miss. Trunchbull, Miss. Honey, Michael Wormwood, Mrs. Phelps, Bruce Bogtrotter and Lavendar should collect an application pack on Monday from the academy office.

Children wishing to form part of the larger school chorus do not need to take an application pack. Year 2 will also be included in auditions although for chorus only.

The date of auditions for the main roles is Friday, 15th March, 2019 – easy to remember as it is also Red Nose Day!

We are very excited about the production and are in talks to secure slots at a large local theatre for the production itself.
