Shoes

Should should be conventional black school shoes that keep out the wet (not training shoes). Shoes with narrow or high heels are not allowed as they cause damage to the wearer’s feet and to the floors. Boots are not acceptable.

The academy governors expect that you will be able to provide these items for your daughter/son to wear as they identify them as pupils of our school and it can greatly help a young person’s attitude towards their work.

It is not appropriate for children to wear make-up or nail varnish in school. They will be asked to remove any make up or nail varnish by a member of staff.

Games kit

Footwear

Plimsolls (or bare feet) for indoor PE or games, training shoes for outdoor games. Football boots and shin pads may also be needed.

Clothing

Boys and girls should wear plain shorts (preferably black or navy) and a plain t-shirt. T-shirts for PE and games in your child’s house team colour, and swim hats, are available from the academy office.

We would like to encourage pupils to wear house team colours so that we can easily identify their house when they take part in games.

Track suits may be worn for some games lessons but not for PE.

We do not allow aerosol type sprays to be brought to the academy as these can adversely affect asthma sufferers.

Name tapes, or names marked in indelible pen, on all clothing make it possible for lost items to be returned to their owners.

Valuables and jewellery

Jewellery of any sort can be dangerous in playgrounds and during P.E. and must not be worn. Pupils with pierced ear lobes may wear only one pair of stud earrings to attend school and even these, along with wrist watches, must be removed during P.E. and other lessons involving physical activity or when the teacher considers them to present a hazard.

No jewellery may be worn in or on any part of the body (excluding ear lobes) which may or may not have been pierced.

All valuables brought to school remain the responsibility of the child who brings them. Neither the academy nor the local authority will accept any responsibility for loss or damage.  However, if asked, class teachers will lock valuables away for safe keeping during the day.

If a pupil brings a mobile phone to the academy it must brought to the academy office straight after morning registration. Pupils need to bring a letter from home stating that they have permission from their parent(s), and a valid reason for bringing their mobile phone to the academy. For more information, please see our Mobile Phone Policy.
